Online Mellow Babies, Mums & Dads Group Training

Our original (face to face) Mellow Babies is a fourteen session group programme for parents and babies under 18 months. Each session includes reflective activities for mums or dads in separate gender groups, a parent-child activity to promote good interaction and a time for discussion about relationships and child development. Parents are video-recorded with their babies before the group and strength-based feedback to parents is shared as part of the group. Parents learn from each other and help each other problem-solve around difficult issues. Parents undertake “HAVE A GO” activities between groups to practice and reinforce new ways of interacting with their children.

The programme has been shown to help parents with their mental health and well-being and to improve parent-child interaction and child development.

Introduction and Rationale for Facilitated Online Mellow Babies Programme

The Online version of Mellow Babies was devised during the Covid 19 restrictions when parents and babies could not join a group face-to-face. It is also suitable for situations where parents and babies may struggle to attend groups i.e. those in rural environments.

Each of the eight sessions includes learning and activities for parents, including relaxation and mindfulness exercises, some video feedback, baby and interaction focussed activities and HAVE A GO! prompts to try out at home.

Interactive online training takes place on Zoom over two mornings and includes some home learning too. Should your employer not allow you to use zoom, we will send you a link to join under our subscription.

We are pleased to offer this online training to facilitators who wish to train and deliver this online babies programme to parents.
