Babies are born with the ability to communicate and form relationships. The quality of their early interactions is vital for their healthy development. Children who thrive in their formative relationships grow into healthy and loving adults. They become good citizens who contribute to society.

Mellow recognises the importance of nurturing parent-child relationships from the very beginning.

The foundation of all Mellow programmes is attachment theory. (link to attachment theory) Caregivers who are available and responsive to an infant’s needs allow the child to develop a sense of security that becomes vital for their wellbeing and healthy development.

The Mellow family of interlinked programmes focuses on strengthening and building healthy relationships.

All of our programmes take place in a group setting. We give particular attention to building a safe and supportive group. Everyone including facilitators share their own stories and experiences, and we trust in the power of the group to help participants build interpersonal relationships and learn to recognise and express their feelings safely.

We encourage participants to find their own solutions to problems, making positive changes that improve their lives today and in their children’s future.

We believe that Mellow groups can help break cycles of disadvantage that span generations.
