Our Evidence
Creating, developing and improving our programmes on the back of a strong evidence base is important to us.
Before development begins on a new programme our internal Evaluation Team conducts literature searches to provide research and evidence which informs the need and the direction of the development of the programme. The Evaluation Team then conduct the assessment of the pilot stages to ensure effectiveness before programmes are made more widely available to services.
Through links with universities we aim to generate further research into our programmes with external evaluations of the Mellow Parenting Programmes from a range of different perspectives.
Mellow Programmes are currently involved in two ongoing trials:
Mellow Bumps is involved in the THRIVE Trial, an RCT comparing care as usual with two interventions for vulnerable women during pregnancy (http://thrive.sphsu.mrc.ac.uk/);
Mellow Mums-Babies is part of the NHS Highlands trial, this research study will compare outcomes for families who take part in Mellow Babies with families who do not take part in Mellow Babies (referred to as ‘usual care’ or comparison group) you can see more information here and the BBC news coverage.
