2-Day In-Person or Online, or 3-Half-Day Online Training

 

Our Mellow Caring for Young People provides an environment where parents and caregivers are supported to reflect on themselves, their relationships, and the changing needs of their young person. The programme strengthens communication, emotional regulation knowledge and skills, and connection, while offering strengths?based video feedback and practical strategies for navigating adolescence with confidence, empathy, and curiosity.

Who Can Deliver?

Contributing to a whole family approach, Mellow for Young People can be delivered by services and practitioners who support parents and caregivers of young people aged 11+, including those working in schools, youth services, community organisations, family support teams, and more.

Mellow Caring for Young People can be delivered flexibly across different settings, including small groups within schools, community spaces, youth services, or family support services. Online delivery to reduce geographical barriers and increase accessibility, and as an intensive one-to-one intervention, including home?based delivery for families needing more tailored and personalised support.

Who the Programme Is For 

Parents and caregivers who want to strengthen their relationship with their young person, improve communication and emotional regulation, deepen their understanding of adolescent development and behaviour, reduce isolation through peer support, and create calmer, safer, more connected family environments.

 

Training Outcomes

  • Receive training in Mellow Parenting’s relationship?based approaches, group work, and reflective practice skills.
  • Develop a clear understanding of the Mellow Caring for Young People programme structure, purpose and evidence base, and how to develop a relationship?centred framework for supporting parents of adolescents using the programme.
  • Strengthen skills in facilitating strengths?based video feedback using the Mellow Parenting Observation System as a guide.
  • Learn additional skills to support parents to reflect on their own adolescence experiences, emotional hotspots, and wellbeing.
  • Gain confidence in delivering and facilitating sessions that are non?judgemental, inclusive, and establish emotional safety.

Practitioners will also be able to access Mellow’s Reflective Consultation and Evaluation Support to obtain Accreditation. Once accredited, practitioners gain access to exclusive benefits and Mellow Parenting’s wider learning opportunities.
