Strengthening Families, Reducing Inequalities, and Supporting Scotland’s National Priorities
Across Scotland, many families are doing their very best in the face of poverty, trauma and multiple pressures. At Mellow Parenting, our direct delivery work exists to walk alongside those families, offering practical, compassionate support that strengthens relationships and helps children and young people thrive.
We deliver our programmes directly in communities across Scotland, working in close partnership with local services who know their families and places best. By bringing Mellow Parenting programmes straight to families, we help create nurturing environments where parents, caregivers and young people feel supported, understood and valued.
Our work is rooted in relationships. We believe that when parents and caregivers feel more confident, connected and emotionally supported, children benefit now and for the rest of their lives.
Working in line with Scotland’s priorities
Our direct delivery approach aligns closely with Scotland’s national vision for children and families. We actively support priorities including Tackling Child Poverty, Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC), Whole Family Wellbeing and The Promise.
Through trauma-informed, relationship-based practice, we support families to build stronger connections, improve wellbeing and access the right support at the right time. Our programmes are not about telling families what to do — they are about creating space for reflection, learning and growth, grounded in trust and respect.
A trusted approach, built over time
For more than 30 years, Mellow Parenting has been recognised for its compassionate and evidence-based approach to supporting parents and caregivers experiencing adversity. What began as a small, relational programme has grown into a nationally and internationally respected model, while staying true to its core values.
Today, our direct delivery work in Scotland is carried out in partnership with local authorities, health services, education teams and third-sector organisations. Working hand-in-hand with collaborators allows us to respond to local need, strengthen existing services and ensure families receive joined-up, meaningful support.
